Tom Brady Could Have Been His Son-In-Law, Trump Jokes

Perhaps Trump wishes his daughter was into a certain five-time Super Bowl champion?

He has Jared Kushner. But what President Donald Trump wants is a Super Bowl champion for a son-in-law, he jokes.

In a new report on the first daughter Ivanka Trump and Kushner by The New York Times, five people indicate that the president has several times joked that he could have had Patriots quarterback Tom Brady as a son-in-law and instead got Kushner.

The joke is in line with Trump's love and fandom for Brady, who previously expressed support for his friend. Brady was caught with a "Make America Great Again" hat in his locker back in 2015 but stepped back once the 2016 election heated up. Brady would decline an invitation to the White House to celebrate the Patriots' Super Bowl LI win at the last second, and Trump reportedly expressed disappointment that the quarterback has distanced himself.

As noted by the New York Post, Trump ex-wife Ivana wrote in her 2017 book that her former husband tried to set up Ivanka with Brady, but Ivanka wasn't interested. That contradicts rumors that the two did date and ex-White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci told TMZ in September that he thinks the two did indeed date.

Either way, Trump can only imagine if he had Brady in his cabinet over Kushner.
