UPDATED: 2 Injured After Ashland Woman Strikes Pole on Hartford Street

The early Sunday morning crash knocked out power to hundreds in Framingham.

A car crash in downtown Framingham, near Hartford Street, knocked out power to hundreds of customers in Framingham, Sunday morning, Feb. 21.

An Ashland woman headed east on Hartford Street went off the road and struck a pole with her 2012 Jeep, said Framingham Police Lt. Stephen Cronin.

The woman told police she was fatigued and had been up all night, said Lt. Cronin.

Framingham Police cited Desiree Hayes, 29, of Ashland, for failure to stay within marked lanes.

Both the woman, and her toddler daughter in the car, were transported to MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham, with minor injuries, said Lt. Cronin.

A Patch reader said a “pole was in half, tangled in branches.”

Lt. Cronin said the woman would be cited.

More than 500 customers in Framingham were without power Sunday morning, at the height of the outage.

Around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Eversource was reporting the outage was down to about 250 customers.

Power was restored to all but a couple dozen customers just after 1 p.m. Sunday.
