5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: December 31

Amazing Things Arts Center hosting New Year's Eve comedy show.

1. Trash collection will take place on today, but not on January 1. Friday’s trash and recycling will be collected on Saturday, Jan. 2.

The recycling center will be open on today from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be closed on Friday, Jan. 1, but open again on Saturday, Jan. 2 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

2. Both Marian High boys basketball team and the girls basketball team lost in the finals of the Mustang Classic on Wednesday night.

3. Yesterday, former state representative John Stefanini and Framingham Board of Health Chair Mike Hugo took out nomination papers for one of 9 Charter Commissioner seats.

There are now almost 30 candidates for Charter Commissioner.

4. The Framingham Library will host a storytime at 10:15 a.m. at the former St. Stephen’s School.

The pop-up library will close at 5 p.m. today and will be closed on Friday.

The McAuliffe Library branch will close at 5:30 p.m. and will be closed on Friday.

5. Amazing Things Arts Center will hold a Comedy Night on New Year’s Eve. Four comedians are scheduled and the show starts at 8 p.m. To reserve seats visit www.amazingthings.org. Doors open at 7. No assigned seating, Tickets are $25 each. Beer & wine available for this performance. Comedian Steve Bjork headlines the show. Other comedians are Jeff Koen, Steve Macone, and host Carolyn Riley.
