5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: February 16

Burst pipe closes the Deluxe Depot Diner and Massachusetts Lt. Governor will be in Framingham this morning.

1. Everyone will be talking about the weather today. Yesterday, it was zero degrees when you woke up, and by mid-afternoon today, Framingham could see 50 degrees.

However, this morning roads and walkways are slick, as there was freezing rain overnight. And if that was not enough for weather, fog and winds of up to 40 miles per hour are expected today along with rain.

2. The weather extremes hve caused several burst pipes in Framingham homes and businesses, including the Deluxe Depot Diner.

The diner had a pipe burst in its front lobby Monday night and had to close early. The downtown Framingham diner will be closed Tuesday for clean-up and repairs.

3. Massachusetts Lt. Governor Karyn Polito will be at the Memorial Building this morning, as the Baker-Polito Administration and the Town of Framingham sign a Community Compact. The Compact is a commitment to the implementation of new “best practice initiatives” in the categories of Information Technology: Transparency and Education; Administration and Finance.
