5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: February 19

1. Amazing Things Arts Center will host a post-JoeVal Festival evening of music. The downtown Framingham arts center will feature Spring Hill Rounders followed by Rizzuti’s BYO Blue Grass Party open jam session. Tickets are still available. The cost is $10 and $8 for Amazing members.

2. Framingham boxer Timmy Ramos is part of the card tonight at Twin River Casino. Limited tickets still available at $45 to $125. Ramos is 2-0-1, with 2 KOs.

3. National mortgage lender and servicer HSBC has agreed to pay $4 million to resolve allegations that it received commissions and other kickbacks relating to force-placed insurance policies that it procured for struggling Massachusetts homeowners, Attorney General Maura Healey announced yesterday.

Under the assurance of discontinuance, filed today in Suffolk Superior Court, HSBC will provide $2.675 million in restitution to affected Massachusetts homeowners, and pay an additional $1.4 million to the Commonwealth.

The settlement provides for refunds to thousands of Massachusetts borrowers who were improperly charged force-placed insurance premiums that included commissions or other payments to HSBC.

4. A couple hundred people were at the grand opening of the Chick-Fil-A in Framingham Thursday morning, Feb. 18. More than 30 individuals had started waiting in line and pitched tents before 6 a.m. Wednesday hoping to receive one of 100 gift cards that award 52 free meals - one a week for a year. At 10 p.m. Wednesday, the 100th individual registered with the chain restaurant.

At least 100 individuals camped out overnight at the franchise, the 3rd in Eastern Massachusetts and the fifth in the Commonwealth. Chick-Fil-A provided games, entertainment, live music and free food for those who waited. A rooster woke up the campers this morning at 6 a.m. and the company’s mascot ushered the 100 first customers in the restaurant, as employees banged pots and pans.

The new restaurant, located in Shoppers World near Kohl’s department store has a dining room for 126 people, and a 2-story indoor play area for children. There is also a dual drive-thru.

5. Rams sophomore forward Tyler Colacchio, poked home a rebound in a mad scramble in front of the net just under nine minutes remaining to break a 4-4 tie and lead the Rams to victory over host Westfield State Thursday evening at Amelia Park Ice Arena. With the win, Framingham State men’s ice hockey team secured a spot in the MASCAC Tournament, improving to 4-11-1 in the conference and 5-17-1 overall.
