5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: January 11

Framingham will do curbside collection of Christmas trees this week. Lt. Governor Karyn Polito will be in Framingham tonight.

1. The Town of Framingham will do curbside pick-up of Christmas trees this week.

Remove all decorations from the tree, including tinsel. Trees in plastic bags will not be collected.

2. Lt. Governor Karyn Polito will be in Framingham tonight for a fundraiser for candidates Janet Leombruno and Ed McGrath. Both Framingham residents are seeking re-election to the Republican State Committee.The fundraiser will be at Samba Steak and Sushi House starting at 5.

4. MUSTANGS in action:

  • Marian High swim team will travel to Massasoit Community College for a meet against Cardinal Spellman at 4 p.m. The Mustangs lost to Bishop Fenwick on Sunday.
  • The combined Marian High/Keefe Technical hockey team will battle Saint Bernards at Loring Arena tonight at 6:45.

5. Framingham High School’s PTBO will hold a meeting tonight at 7 in the school’s library. Alyse DiLuzio from the counseling department will be the guest speaker.

Traffic alert: Contractors have begun excavation of a jacking pit in the area just north of the railroad tracks on Concord Street between Howard Street and Waverly Street. Two-way traffic will be maintained. Parking will be restricted in the work area. Work is scheduled tonight through Thursday evening from 8 p.m.to 5 a.m.
