5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: January 5

Both Framingham Selectmen and Framingham School Committee will meet tonight at 7.

1. Framingham Selectmen will hold their first meeting of 2016 tonight at 7 in the Memorial Building.

2. Framingham School Committee will also hold its first meeting of the 2016 year. On the agenda is a discussion on user fees (busing, athletic & parking), there will be a draft presentation of the 2016-17 school calendar and school improvement plans will be presented by Stapleton Elementary, Cameron Middle and Wilson IB schools.

  • Gymnastics team hosts Wellesley at 7 p.m.

  • Swim team has a meet against Matignon at 3:45 p.m.
  • Girls basketball vs St. Mary’s at 5:30 p.m.
  • Boys basketball vs Cristo Rey at 6:30 p.m.
  • Marian/Keefe hockey team has an away game at 8 p.m. against Burncoat High

5. The largest Powerball jackpot in nearly a year is up for grabs.

Wednesday’s drawing will be for an estimated $400 million jackpot; it’s the largest jackpot since a $564.1 million jackpot was hit on Feb. 11, 2015, according to a press release from the Massachusetts State Lottery.

The cash option payout for Wednesday’s drawing is estimated at $244.8 million.

The Powerball drawings are held every Wednesday & Saturday at 10:21 p.m.
