AAA: Gas Prices Drop Another 3 Cents

This is the 7th straight week gas prices have dropped. Consumers have seen a 22 cent savings at the pumps over that time.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are down another three cents this week, the seventh straight week of decreasing prices, according to AAA Northeast, which has an office in Framingham.

Prices have fallen 22 cents over those seven weeks.

AAA’s January 25 survey of prices in Massachusetts finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $1.84 per gallon, three cents lower than last week.

The Massachusetts price is one cent above the national average for regular unleaded of $1.83.

A year ago at this time, the average price in Massachusetts was 24 cents higher at $2.08.

“Crude oil prices haven’t been this low since 2003,” said Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast Director of Public and Legislative Affairs, in a press release.“Strong oil supplies, coupled with the lessening demand we typically see during the winter, are signs that prices could even go lower.”

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 73 cents, from a low of $1.66 to a high of $2.39.
