Flyers Dance Team Wins Eye of the Tiger Invitational

The Framingham High dance team finished in first place at the weekend competition in South Hadley.

The Framingham High Dance Team kicked off its winter competition season, with a victory.

The Flyers earned first place in the dance division at the Eye of the Tiger Invitational in South Hadley on Sunday, said head coach Lea Needham-Wood.

Framingham seniors Ariel Luria, who is team captain, Bruna Barbalho, and Allyson Rodriguez all were recognized during the awards ceremony, said Needham-Wood.

Other members of the team include: Sophomores Erin MacQueen, Careena Uppaluri, Jasmynne Ramos, and Delylah Garcia.

Twenty-six teams competed at the Invitational this weekend. Framingham performed a hip-hop routine.

The Flyers have two more competitions this week, including The Winter Warm up in Leominster on Wednesday, Feb. 17. Next is the Shepherd Hill Winter Invitational in Dudley on Feb. 19.

The State Dance Championships are on Saturday, Feb 27 at Needham High.

“If we place high enough at States, we will earn our third bid to the New England Dance Championships to be held March 5th in Braintree,” said Needham-Wood.
