Flyers Finish Third in Team Pentathlon

Several Framingham High boys track team members qualified for the state meet at the Pentathlon and at the MSTCA Speed Classic.

The Framingham High boys indoor track team finished third overall in the team pentathlon on Wednesday morning.

Somerville won the team pentathlon with Newton North second.

Senior Ben Kirchman opened the pentathlon with a personal best 8.42 seconds in the 55-hurdles, to qualify for the state meet, said head coach Christ Collins.

Senior Marc Umumbu finished second overall in the shot put, but unfortunately re-injured his wrist, said Collins.

Senior captain Mike McDonald made his season debut, coming off a nasty foot injury, said Collins. He qualified for states with a 2:43 minutes in the 1000 meters.

In the afternoon, several Flyers had a good meet at the MSTCA Speed Classic.

Nick Benoit ran the 55 meters in 7 seconds flat. Benoit finished 12th out of 102 runners. Matt Kimmelstiel finished in 7.08 seconds.

The 4X200 relay team had a good time of 1:38 minutes. Members of the team were Kimmelstiel, Benoit, Darian Kianfar, and Chigozie Nna. Framingham finished 9th out of 30 teams.
