Former Representative, Selectmen Stefanini Running For Charter Commissioner

Voters will decide if they wish to create a Charter Commission and elect 9 Commissioners on March 29.

Former State Representative and Selectman John Stefanini today, Dec. 30, pulled nomination papers to run for Charter Commission.

Framingham voters will decide a ballot question on March 29, if they want to create a Charter Commission to study Framingham’s form of government. Also on that ballot, Framingham voters will be asked to elect 9 Charter Commissioners.

“Framingham is a great community that has the resources, people power and energy to be so much greater. While we have well-meaning elected officials who try their best on a volunteer basis to manage the large $250 million corporation that is Framingham, we squander opportunities and waste resources because of our lack of clear priorities, scattered decision-making and defused authority,” said Stefanini.

“All of us are rightfully proud of Framingham. The pride that each of us feels for Framingham needs to be better reflected in Framingham’s government. We need a local government that represents all of us and that supports vibrant neighborhoods, quality schools, safe and secure homes, values our elders, celebrates diversity, invests in small businesses, increases community participation, cares for those in need,” said Stefanini.

“Working together, we can and will make Framingham a better place to live, learn, work and play, said Stefanini, a Boston real estate and government attorney.
