Framingham Elector to Cast Vote to Electoral College Today

Parwez Wahid of Framingham will cast his vote today at the anticipated Electoral College vote

The eleven Massachusetts members of the Electoral College, including Framingham's own Parwez Wahid, will cast their votes today in the Massachusetts House Chamber at 3 p.m. for Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine. All electors are expected to cast their votes for the Democratic candidates who won Massachusetts' votes.

Parwez Wahid is one of two Muslim electors selected in August 2016. He, along with Nazda Alam of Weston, have served on the Massachusetts Democratic Senate Committee, and was elected to three consecutive four-year terms. He was also the former Chair of the Framingham Democratic Town Committee.

The Electoral College is a process that elects the President and Vice President of the United States, and consists of 538 electors. The candidate who receives 270 votes becomes the next President.
