Framingham Finishes 2015 With Gas Prices Below $2

AAA's December 28 survey of prices in Massachusetts finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $1.98 per gallon.

Regular unleaded gasoline prices in Massachusetts are finally dipping below the $2.00 per gallon mark, according to AAA Northeast, which has an office in Framingham.

The Prime gas station in Framingham on Route 135 was selling gasoline at $1.91 a gallon on Sunday.

Prices have fallen a dime in the last month, and a year ago at this time, the average price in Massachusetts was 48 cents higher at 2.46.

“Massachusetts motorists and holiday travelers are getting an early New Year’s gift—prices for regular unleaded dropping below two dollars a gallon,” says AAA’s Mary Maguire, in a press release.

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 56 cents, from a low of $1.83 to a high of $2.39. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
