The delayed opening means your child needs to be at their bus stop two hours later than normal.

"These are dangerously low temperatures and could result in frostbite within 10-30 minutes of exposure. Therefore, we will be delaying the opening of school on Friday by two hours. That will allow temperatures to rise slightly and buses to be timely due to less traffic on the roadways at that time. There are over 6,000 students who ride on Framingham Public School buses with the first bus stop at 6:30 a.m. We appreciate this delay may create problems for some families; however, student safety is our first and most critical concern especially under conditions that are so potentially dangerous."
FPS also shared National Weather service suggestions for how to dress your child in weather like this:
- Wear layers of loose fitting, light weight, warm clothing. Trapped air between the layers will insulate your child.
- Outer garments should be tightly woven, water repellent and hooded
- Wearing a hat is also recommended because 40% of body heat is lost from the head
- Mouths should be covered to protect lungs from the extreme cold
- Mittens, snug at the wrist, are better than gloves
