Framingham State VP Elected Chair of United Way of Tri-County Board

Framingham State University Vice President of Enrollment and Student Development, Dr. Susanne Conley, has been elected chair of the United Way of Tri-County's Board of Directors.

Framingham State University Vice President of Enrollment and Student Development, Dr. Susanne Conley, has been elected chair of the United Way of Tri-County’s Board of Directors.

“All of us at United Way are thrilled to welcome Dr. Conley as our in-coming board chair,” said Paul Mina, President and CPO of the United Way. “As a member of our board she has been very active in our food security program with the establishment of our Pearl Street Cupboard and Café and as a founding member of the MetroWest Women’s Alliance. I know that she will bring the same leadership and enthusiasm to her new role as chairperson of the board.”

Conley has been a member of the United Way’s Board of Directors for the past five years. The United Way of Tri-County serves 34 communities throughout Norfolk, Middlesex and Worcester Counties, but is headquartered in Framingham.

“I’m so proud to serve as the chair of the Board of Directors for such an instrumental non-profit philanthropic organization,” Conley said in a press release. “The United Way of Tri County functions within the structure of the national organization, but with a spirit of creativity and innovation.”

Framingham State University has enjoyed an excellent partnership with the United Way over the past few years, thanks in large part to Conley’s involvement with the organization.

The partnership includes “Saturdays of Service” for the campus community to work with local agencies on service projects once each month. It also includes “Days of Caring” where volunteers will rake leaves for elderly residents, prepare meals for developmentally disabled adults and organize activities for families at
local homeless shelters. Several students also intern with the organization each
semester.

Conley graduated from Framingham State University with a BA magna cum laude in history in 1990 then spent five years at Brandeis University, where she earned a master’s in history and was director of the writing center. She earned her doctorate in higher education administration from UMass Boston in 2007.
