Generazio Memorial Golf Tourney Raises $11,500

The Generazio Memorial Golf Tournament, which took place at Wayland Country Club on September 14, 2015, raised more than $11,500 for Jimmy Fund Golf.

Over the Tournament’s two-year history, golfers and sponsors have combined to contribute more than $20,600.

Jimmy Fund Golf is the oldest and largest charity golf program in the country.

Now in its 33rd year, Jimmy Fund Golf has raised more than $97 million to support adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

“We are extremely grateful to our volunteers and sponsors,” saidevent director Jason Heggs, of Framingham.

Heggs started the tournament in 2014 as a way to remember and honor his father-in-law Peter Generazio, Aunt Donna (Generazio) Hanna, Aunt Gina Generazio, and Uncle Frank Generazio III, while contributing to a much needed and worthy cause, research at Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

“The support from friends, family, and the community is amazing, It’s because of this support, we will continue to hold this special tournament and continue to make a meaningful impact in the fight against cancer. No one person or family is immune, and if this gives one person the hope needed, or one doctor the funds needed to make a difference, then what better cause could there be?,” said Heggs.

This year’s tournament planning is underway.

It will once again be held at the Wayland Country Club, on Monday September 12, 2016.
