Korean War Vet and U.S. Air Force Band Leader Victor J. Golgata, 82, Has Died

Victor J. Golgata, 82, of Framingham, died, Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at St. Patrick Manor in Framingham.

Born in Southborough, he was the son of the late Venanzio and Marietta (Morazzini) Golgata.

In his youth, he was a catcher for the former Boston Braves baseball farm team, according to his obituary from Norton Funeral Home.

During the Korean War, he served in the US Air Force as a flights teward and was also an accordion player and band leader for the US Air Force Band stationed in Hawaii, stated his obituary.

Golgata worked in the construction industry and formerly worked for Perini Construction Company, the former Builder’s Realty and later retired from the Town of Framingham.

He was a lifetime member of the Framingham Lodge of Elks #1264.

Following his retirement, he enjoyed travelling with friends on the various travel excursions from the Hastings House in Framingham.

Throughout his life he was an avid sports fan and also loved all music and attending concerts.

He is the devoted father of three daughters; Marietta Anastos of Ashland, Maureen Golgata and her husband Thomas Regan of Naples, FL, and Kimberly and her husband George McCann of Ashland. He is also survived by his cherished granddaughters; Alexandra and Alyssa Anastos both of Ashland; loving brother of Gena Ferrelli of Framingham, and several nephews and cousins.

He was the brother of the late Domenic Golgata and Eleanora Piccinotti.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Thursday, Jan. 10, at 8 a.m. from the , followed by his funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Bridget Church. Burial will follow in St. Tarcisius Cemetery, Winthrop St. Framingham.

Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday, Jan. 9 from 5 – 8 p.m.
