Lady Flyers Crowned State Champions in Dash Relay

Overall, the Framingham high girls track team finished 9th out of 27 teams, at the state relay meet over the weekend.

Framingham High won the Division 1 State Championship in the 4X50 relay, over the weekend

The team of Hannah Greenberg, Leche Small-Brown, Olivia Rothenberg and Hilda Kusi won the title in 25.23 seconds.

Overall, the Lady Flyers finished 9th out of 27 teams at the State Relay Meet on Saturday, Jan. 9.

Framingham finished fourth in the 4X200 relay, with a state-qualifying time of 1:48.98 minutes. On the relay were sophomore Zoie Carter, junior Jenny Ribeiro, senior captain Olivia Rothenberg and freshman Small-Brown.

The Flyers finished 9th overall in the shot put relay, said head coach Chris Collins.

On the relay was senior Sarah Lucien, senior captain Ayana McKay, and junior Allison Mancall.

Framingham finished 10th in the Sprint Medley Relay (800, 200, 200, 400) in a time of 4:35.49 minutes. On the relay was Ribeiro at 2:33, senior captain Hilda Kusi at 28.1, Carter at 27.3, and Ashley Wilson 67.1.

The Flyers finished in 11th place in the shuttle hurdles 4X50 event at 33.95 seconds. On the relay was Greenberg, Wilson, Michelle Hom and Aleeza Zilberman.

Freshman Grace Poku had a great 50-yard dash split at 6.2 seconds. It was the same time as the top two varsity results from the championship team, said Collins.

Three underclassmen has notable 200-meter relay legs, said Collins.

  • Freshman Saisha Small-Brown 28.3 seconds
  • Sophomore Lauren Walker 28.8 seconds
  • Freshman Laura Walkup 29.9 seconds

Sophomore Sophie Meltzer jumped 14-feet, 5 inches in the long jump relay in just two attempts, said Collins.

Next up for the Lady Flyers is a meet against Weymouth on Thursday.
