MASSACHUSETTS — Middlesex County is the most expensive place to buy a home in Massachusetts ... that isn't an island.

Ok, so yes your hunch is correct, both Dukes and Nantucket Counties are the most expensive in the state.

According to data from The Warren Group, the 2023 median sale price of homes in Nantucket County were over $2.5 million, and in Dukes County the median sale price was $1.3 million.

So instead, let's focus on mainland Massachusetts, where Middlesex County has the most expensive 2023 median homes sales at $775,000. That price is a nearly 5 percent increase from the 2022 median of $740,000.
