New Water Main Construction Begins This Week

Construction crews will begin to install temporary water main bypass piping on Chouteau Avenue, LaSalle Avenue, Lake Road and Lakeview Avenue

Framingham Department of Public Works has issued its weekly update on roadway, water and sewer work. Expect delays in several areas of town.

Chouteau Avenue/LaSalle Avenue/Lake Road/Lakeview Avenue: Construction crews will begin to install temporary water main bypass piping on Chouteau Avenue, LaSalle Avenue, Lake Road and Lakeview Avenue.  While construction is in progress, traffic through the work zone will be maintained utilizing a one lane alternating traffic management plan; with the potential for temporary roadway detours. Roadway sections may be closed to traffic and detoured while the work is in progress. Construction crews will be performing sewer main construction working from Eisenhower Road to the Eaton Road cul-de-sac.

While construction is in progress, traffic through the work zone will be managed utilizing a one lane alternating traffic management plan.  Expect delays while traveling in this area.  Construction activities are scheduled to take place between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Eaton Road/Eisenhower Road Active Work Zone Map

As part of the Central Street Siphon/Sudbury River Interceptor Project: 

construction crews will be performing roadway reconstruction on Edgell Road between Warren Place and Central Street, as well as on Central Street between Edgell Road and Kellogg Street and a small portion of Auburn Street at the intersection of Edgell Road.  Edgell Road, Central Street and Auburn Street will remain open to through traffic while construction is in progress.  Construction activities are schedule to take place daily between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Expect delays while traveling in this area.

Grant Street:

Construction crews will continue to perform water main construction on Grant Street between Howard Street and Arthur Street.  While construction is in progress, Grant Street may be locally detoured and may require lane shifts and potentially the use of a one lane alternating traffic management plan through the work zone. Expect delays while travelling in this area.  Construction activities are scheduled to take place daily between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Grant Street Active Work Zone Map


Mellen Street/Coburn Street/Winthrop Street/Saucier Street/Bridges Street:

Construction crews will continue to perform service work and punch list items on Mellen Street, Coburn Street, Winthrop Street, Saucier Street and Bridges Street.  While construction is in progress, traffic will be jogged through the work zone using lane shifts and potentially the use of a one lane alternating traffic management plan.  Construction activities are scheduled to take place daily between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mellen Street/Coburn Street/Winthrop Street/Saucier Street/Bridges Street Active Work Zone Map


North Concord Street:

Construction crews have mobilized and begun to install deep gravity sewer main in an easement adjacent to Concord Street between the intersection of School Street and “A” Street; however, construction activities should have little to no impact on traffic in the area. Construction activities are scheduled to take place between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. North Concord Street Active Work Zone Map


Pleasant Street:

The Department of Public Works Highway Division will continue to perform roadway reconstruction activities on Pleasant Street between Vernon Street and Mill Street.  While construction activities are in progress, all eastbound traffic travelling on Pleasant Street will be temporarily detoured from Pleasant Street to Mill Street.  All eastbound automobile traffic will be detoured from Pleasant Street to Mill Street, from Mill Street to Belknap Road, from Belknap Road to Grove Street.  All eastbound truck traffic will be detoured from Pleasant Street to Mill Street, from Mill Street to Belknap Road and from Belknap Road to Edgell Road. South Concord Street:


Construction crews will continue to perform water main and sewer main construction activities on Concord Street between Kendall Street and Waverly Street.   Construction is anticipated to progress from Concord Street to Hollis Street, between Waverly Street and Hollis Court.  While construction is in progress, Concord Street and Hollis Street will be reduced to a single lane of travel for both northbound and southbound traffic, please use caution when travelling in this area.  In order to maintain public safety, minimize adverse impacts on emergency response time, traffic flows and business in general, construction activities will be performed during the overnight hours between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. Valentine Road:

Water main construction will continue on Valentine Road. While construction activities are in progress Valentine Road will be open to local traffic and emergency vehicles only, all other traffic will be temporarily detoured. Construction activities are scheduled to take place between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Department of Public Work’s Roadway Program
The Department of Public Work’s Highway Division will continue to perform roadway modifications in the following locations:  Burbank Circle, Corrine Drive, Davidson Road, Gregory Road, Hadley Road, Joyce Road, Lancaster Drive, Oakvale Road, Overlook Drive West, Rolling Lane, Sloan Drive, Whittemore Road.  Roadway construction activities are scheduled to take place between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.  Expect delays when travelling in these areas.
