Selfie Video Leads to Arrest of Mustang Driver: Reports

The man allegedly almost ran over a police officer while recording himself driving the rented Mustang.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - A Worcester man allegedly almost ran over a police officer while taking a video of himself driving, Wicked Local reported.

Abdulrahman Jawad, 20, reportedly admitted he was recording himself as he drove down Union Avenue in a bright yellow rented Mustang early Friday morning, Wicked Local reported.

An officer on detail spotted what appeared to be Jawad holding a cellphone up above the windshield and taking a video of himself as he drove, Wicked Local reported.

An officer stationed at at Bowditch Field heard the radio report and walked into the street to stop the vehicle, according to Wicked Local.

The mustang allegedly swerved around the officer and came close to hitting him, Wicked Local reported. Another officer pulled in front of Jawad on a motorcycle and forced him to stop, Wicked Local reported.

The suspect explained his brother had rented the Mustang recently and wanted a video of him driving it, Wicked Local reported.

Police charged Jawad with failing to stop for police and cited him for using a cellphone while driving and a marked lanes violation, according to Wicked Local. Jawad was fined $100, according to Wicked Local.
