Staples Buying Furniture Wholesaler For $1 Billion

FRAMINGHAM, MA—Staples plans to acquire the furniture wholesaler Essedant for nearly $1 billion, according to reports.

The Framingham-based office supply giant is acquiring the Illinois-based company and buying up its outstanding shares of office furniture, reports the Worcester Business Journal. Staples has been bidding against Genuine Parts Co. of Atlanta.
