He said he informed both of the decision before the Tuesday night’s School Committee meeting.

Scott said his office would issue a press release about the change on Wednesday.

Simon was appointed interim principal at Hemenway, after Lucia Laguarda announced she was taking a position in New York, after five years in the public school district.

Before becoming interim principal, Simon was vice principal at the Water Street school for three years. She has been with the Framingham Public Schools since 1987 serving as guidance counselor at Barbieri Elementary for five years and then as a guidance counselor at Hemenway for 20 years.

Schecter had been the Assistant Principal at the Charlotte A. Dunning Elementary School since August 19, 2013, before moving up to Principal, when Kim Taylor took a lateral transfer to King Elementary in Framingham.

Before coming to Dunning Elementary, she worked at Fuller Middle School for twelve years. During that time, she was a speech therapist for six years and a special education teacher for six years.
