Urinetown Auditions Wednesday and Thursday at PAC

The will hold audition tomorrow, May 30 and Thursday, May 31 from 6-9 for its summer production of Urinetown, the Musical.

Urinetown is hilarious musical tale of greed, corruption, love and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold.

Recently graduated high school students and students entering grades 9-12 may audition.

At least 20 students are needed to stage the musical the weekend of Aug. 3-4.

To audition students should prepare a song of their choosing in the style of the show. Students may sing a song from the musical at the audition. Selections should be approximately 32 bars or no more than one minute in length, "so please choose a song which best shows your range and character."  Students are asked to bring a snap shot and theatrical resume, if you have them.

Students auditioning do not need to attend both nights, but should plan to stay the entire three hours which night they choose.

There is a $25 audition fee, which can be applied to the summer theatre tuition fee.

Rehearsals will be Sunday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 beginning June 27 and ending July 29. Tech week will be July 30 through Aug. 2.

Tuition for the summer theatre production is $375.

Urinetown is one of the most uproariously funny musicals in recent years. In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides he's had enough, and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom, according to Music Theater International.

Brian Boruta will direct the production, with Kara Sullivan as assistant director and choreographer. Musical direction will be by Alex Abdoulaev.
