Wagner, who is a member of the Keefe Tech Advisory Board for Plumbing, decided to donate a plumber’s box truck to the program to allow students to learn how professionals stock and maintain a truck without having to leave a job site.
“On behalf of Keefe Tech, I’d like to thank Mr. Wagner for his donation. We really appreciate his generosity,” said Keefe Tech Career and Technical Coordinator John Brochu. “We were in need of a secure and safe place to store materials at a job site. When our students would go out into the community with their instructor to a job site, they would transport tools back and forth from the site to the school every day. If they happened to need a part they didn’t bring with them, they would have to leave the job and drive back to the school to get the part,” he added.

According to Brochu, during an Advisory Board meeting, Wagner suggested if the plumbing students had a truck, they could stock it with all the necessary supplies, lock up all their tools safely at the end of the day, and leave the truck parked at the job site for the duration of the work. “It’s a real transport truck. It’s what they’ll see in the real world as plumbers,” he explained.
“I just felt that there was a need for it after hearing what the students were doing with their tools. I felt that I had to do anything that I could do to help the kids and the school out,” said Wagner.

Wagner delivered the box truck to Keefe Tech and handed the keys over to Brochu as Keefe Tech Plumbing Instructors Jamie Prevosk and Eric Gordon and a group of juniors in the Plumbing program looked on.
“It’s great when members of the community step up and help the school. Mr. Wagner is very involved and he wants to do what he can to help. In the end, his donation will help us turn out a better apprentice and plumber from our program,” said Jamie Prevosk, Keefe Tech Plumbing Instructor.
Plumbing junior Jake Gillert of Framingham, who works as an apprentice at Robert Wagner Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, said he was looking forward to using the donated truck.
“The truck will help with knowing about the layout of the supplies. When we go out into the field, we’ll know what to expect and we’ll have everything we need because it will be fully stocked,” he said.
“We’re happy that Mr. Wagner is giving us a truck for all of the projects we do. It’s going to be a great asset to our program,” said Keefe Tech Plumbing instructor Eric Gordon.
The box truck will first be utilized at the site of the Keefe Tech House Building Project, located at 7 Walker St. in Hopkinton. “They’ll be able to finish up work there, and then use it for any other project that comes up during the school year,” Brochu said.
