Here are 5 cool places to have a picnic:

1. Ekblaw Landing, across from 116 Worcester St., North Grafton. This tranquil site overlooks the water, but is just off the main drag.

2. Gummere Wood, 5 Wheeler Road, North Grafton. This wooded parcel includes a secluded picnic area.

3. Grafton Common. The quintessential gathering spot for centuries.

4. Silver Lake Beach, Route 140, Grafton. The beach is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. June through September.

5. Purgatory Chasm, 198 Purgatory Road, Sutton. Have a relaxing picnic after walking the trails or climbing the rock formations.
