5 Things to Know About the Flag

American Legion offers tips on flag care.

The American Legion offers 5 things to know about the flag, both on Flag Day, and every day, courtesy of www.legion.org.

1. Flags should not be displayed in inclement weather, unless the flag is made of all-weather materials such as nylon or other non-absorbent fabrics. Many flags today are made to withstand these conditions.

2. The universal custom is to fly the flag only from sunrise to sunset. However, flags may be flown at night if they are illuminated by a light source bright enough to make the flag visible to a casual observer.
