Sex offender charged with passing counterfeit money.

The case against registered sex offender Brian Addeo for allegedly passing a counterfeit $20 bill has been moved to Worcester Superior Court.

Addeo is now housed at Bridgewater State Hospital, court records said.

Addeo made headlines in March when he removed his court-mandated GPS bracelet and fled the area.

Addeo was captured in Augusta, Maine March 16, several days after allegedly cutting off his GPS monitoring bracelet and tossing it into the back of a pickup truck in the parking lot of Home Depot in Tewksbury.

Wearing the monitoring bracelet was one of the requirements of his parole. He was released on lifetime community parole April 29, 2010 after pleading guilty to a number of charges.

These charges included four counts of statutory rape of a child, three counts of indecent assault and battery of a child under 14 and indecent assault and battery of a person over 14, according to Timothy J. Connolly, spokesman for the Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early.

The counterfeit money charge, which is separate from the bracelet incident, resulted when he allegedly passed a counterfeit  bill Dec. 8 to owner Michael Adwe at Grafton Auto Sales, 101 Worcester St.

Addeo had been serving an automatic six-month sentence at the Worcester County House of Correction in West Boylston for breaking his parole by removing the bracelet.
