Alleged Arsonist Returns to Court

Charles Conti, who is charged with setting vehicles on fire, returns for a pre-trial conference April 13.

The case of Grafton resident , who is charged with setting a fire at a Worcester construction company last month, was continued today in Worcester Superior Court to April 13.

Conti, 63, who lives at 7 Airport Rd., North Grafton, will return to court April 13 for a pre-trial conference.

He faces charges of malicious destruction of property valued over $250 and two counts of burning a motor vehicle. The charges were filed in connection with a fire Feb. 14 at A. F. Amorello & Sons construction company at 115 Southwest Cutoff in Worcester.

Conti is charged with setting fire to two trucks at the construction site. More than $250 worth of damage was reported to the contents of one of the trucks, according to court documents.

Conti is being held on $100,000 bail. One reason for the bail request was his record of convictions, according to court documents.

He has been involved in 67 court cases dating back to 1967, according to court documents. Not all of the cases resulted in convictions.

Charges through the years included burning, malicious destruction of property, resisting arrest and failure to obey a police officer, according to the documents.
