Anti-Bullying In Spotlight at GHS

School devotes week to anti-bullying message and activities.

This coming school week will be 's second annual anti-bullying week.

 The student council will be running various activities throughout the week of Feb. 28 to March 4 to enhance bullying awareness.

Every morning bullying statistics and quotes will be read during the announcements. New this year will be a large poster quote of the day that will hang on the cafeteria windows.

The school is also sponsoring an anti-bullying poster contest for the week.

Students should submit posters to Room 118 by Friday March 4. The student who creates the winning poster will receive a gift card.

The week's events include the following:

Monday: Students will receive an anti-bullying ribbon to be worn throughout the day.

Tuesday: There will be two "high-five" hallways and students will have an opportunity to fill out a card that says "If you really knew me, you would know__________," which will be displayed in the lobby.

Wednesday: Students will sign pledges to end the use of the "R" word during Spread the Word to End the Word day.

Thursday: Students will use Facebook and Twitter to spread the message of anti-bullying by posting a status and tweet with a prepared anti-bullying message that students hope will be viewed by many.  

Friday: To finish the week, everyone will be asked to wear a blue shirt to unify in bully awareness. This will also be compliment day. Fifteen large yellow smiley faces will circulate around the school and as someone pays a compliment they will initial it and pass it on to someone else.
