
Apple Tree Arts showcases the talents of its Community Chorus at a spring concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at the Evangelical Congregational Church, 30 Grafton Common.
Concert admission is $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and students. Tickets are available at the door.
The 30 members of the Community Chorus have been rehearsing weekly preparing for the concert. Members are from Grafton and surrounding towns.

“We decided to present a program of all American music with several different styles,”said Donna Blanchard, executive director of Apple Tree Arts and director of the chorus, in a prepared statement. “We are having fun learning new music and continue to improve our skills.''
George and Ira Gershwin’s song “Embraceable You” and the tune “Summertime” from the Broadway play, “Porgy and Bess,” “Mountain Music” by Randy Owen and “Fields of Gold” by Sting will be featured. Ballads and classic songs from the sixties include Paul Simon’s and Art Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” and “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” written by Bobby Russell and Bobby Scott. The group will sing “Defying Gravity” from the popular Broadway show “Wicked.”

Accomplished faculty member Tina Ho will accompany the chorus on each number. Several instrumentalists will play as well.
The Community Chorus meets once a week on Tuesday evenings at the Evangelical Congregational Church. The chorus welcomes new members and doesn’t require an audition for membership.
The group collaborates with other community choruses in surrounding communities on concerts and other activities.
