Assault Rifles, 393 Pills Seized in Raid

Man from Providence Road is arrested on an array of charges.

Police seized a loaded shotgun, an SKS assault rifle and nearly 300 Oxycodone pills this morning in a raid at 289 Providence Rd.

A half-ounce of cocaine and other controlled substances were also seized, according to information provided by the .

As a result of the search, police arrested John A. Stanley, 23, of 289 Providence Rd., Apt. 2L, on charges of possession of an assault weapon, possession of large capacity feeding devices (11 counts), possession of firearms without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID, possession of Class B Drugs (2 counts: Oxycodone and cocaine), trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in Oxycodone, possession of Class C Drug (Clonazepam), possession with intent to distribute Class B drugs (2 counts) and improper firearms storage (2 counts).

Because intelligence revealed that assault weapons and other firearms were in the apartment, the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (CEMLEC) SWAT Team conducted the initial entry for officer’s safety.

On making access to the apartment, SWAT Team members immediately located and secured a loaded shotgun and an SKS Assault rifle along with several loaded magazines.

Officers conducting the search found 393 Oxycodone pills, a half-ounce of cocaine and other controlled substances. Based on U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) standards, street value of the seized drugs is estimated at more than $12,000.

Officers also found equipment and packaging materials used for the distribution of the narcotics. Officers also seized approximately $1,200 in cash.

The search warrant was issued by the Westborough District Court as the result of an investigation initiated by Grafton Officer Liam O’Rourke in July.

Members of the Blackstone Valley Drug Task Force and MA State Police Detectives (CPAC) also participated in the investigation.           

Grafton officers assisting with investigation and subsequent arrest include Lt. Wayne Tripp, Detective William Kuck, Officer James Crosby, Officer Daniel Wenc and Officer Robert Collette.
