Bank Comes Back Home to Fisherville
Historical Society says the move is an appropriate one.

The Board of Directors recently voted to return the former Grafton Savings Bank building near to its original location on Main Street in Fisherville Village in South Grafton.
The building will have a new home at the South Grafton Mill Villages Park, located at 61 Main St. next to the Blackstone River.
The "small bank building," which will continue to be owned by the Historical Society, was built by members of the Larrivee family in 1937 and served as a branch bank for both the Grafton Savings Bank and the Grafton Co-Operative Bank.

The original savings bank building in Grafton Center is now owned by Magill Associates. The smaller building served as a working bank in South Grafton until it was purchased by the Grafton Historical Society in 1967 and moved to a location on Upton Street next to the Grafton post office.

It served as the first headquarters of the Historical Society.
“The Fisherville bank building is an important part of South Grafton’s
history,’’ Grafton Historical Society President Linda Casey said in a prepared statement. “It has been a treasured asset of the Grafton Historical Society but the board of directors strongly feels that it needs to be returned to Fisherville. The new South Grafton Mill Village Park is an ideal setting for all Grafton residents to enjoy the heritage that this building represents.”
