
The 2012 open burning season is now under way through May 1.
The application for a burning permit will be filled out one time only, in person, at the business office, 26 Upton St., during business hours. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The permit fee costs $5 and is valid for the entire burning season.

Anyone wishing to use the permit must call the business office at 508-839-4606 by noon of the day the burning will take place. Permission must be obtained by noon, and a random inspection will be made by a member of the fire department.
Large piles of brush must be broken into smaller, manageable piles.

Burning is prohibited during adverse conditions. The following items cannot be burned: Brush, trees and similar items from commercial or institutional land clearing operations; grass, hay, leaves, stumps and tires.
