
You don't often see a weather cancellation in August, let alone on the first day of school.
But that could happen, depending on the severity of the storm and its aftermath.
Superintendent of Schools Jay Cummings will be keeping a close eye on the hurricane. He told parents in a message on the school Web site that "we will be treating this storm in the same manner that we would treat an incoming snowstorm.''
He will be working with the , , and the school maintenance and custodial staff to make any decisions needed to ensure the safety of students and staff. Â

If school is delayed or cancelled, calls will go out through the Global Connect System on Sunday evening or Monday morning, information will be posted on the school website, and media will be alerted.
