CPR, First Aid Classes Scheduled

Instruction will be held at the Grafton Fire Station on Upton Street.

The Community Nursing Association of Grafton and the are offering a course in CPR and First Aid.

The course is designed for those who wish to learn rescue breathing, obstructed airway and CPR skills for the adult, child and infant as well as basic first aid.

From 6 to 10 p.m. Aug. 16, CPR/AED training for adults, children and infants will be offered. This CPR course is a modular course that teaches how to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies, including cardiac arrest and choking for adults, children and infants.

Participants also learn to recognize the warning signs of heart attack and stroke in adults and breathing difficulties in children. Participants will also have hands on practice, demonstration and training in the use of an Automated External Defibrillator.

From 6 to 10 p.m. Aug. 23, first aid training will be offered. The course includes essential information and training in the first aid skills recommended by Occupation Safety and Health Administration, all in a format that can be delivered in a single day.

This course teaches rescuers to effectively recognize and treat adult and child emergencies in the critical first minutes until emergency medical professionals arrive. The course is modular to meet the needs of a specific workplace or for any community or family needs. The core module includes general principles, medical emergencies and injury emergencies for first aid.

The classes will be held at the , 26 Upton St. in the first floor training room. Cost for enrollment is $20 per person, per class. The fee includes training materials and certification cards.

The balance of the cost will be paid for by the Community Nursing Association of Grafton. Call the Board of Health Office at 508-839-5335 X 119 or visit the office to reserve your place for these classes. Please make checks payable to the Town of Grafton. 

Deadline for registration and non-refundable payment is Aug. 12. These classes are available only to Grafton residents. Participants must be registered to participate in the class.
