Cumberland Farms Closed for Clean-up

Reopening will depend on completion, a company spokesman says.

The Cumberland Farms on 16 Upton St. will remain closed while clean-up continues after the fire suppression system malfunctioned earlier today, a company spokesman said.

The system malfunction, which happened at 11:33 a.m. caused baking soda to be discharged, Christen Graham, spokesman for Cumberland Farms, said.

The discharge covered four cars and the pavement. Assistant Fire Chief Steve Charest said he would not allow these cars to leave the premises until they were cleaned.
