'Dummy' Might Be Moved

The traffic “dummy’’ at the top of Worcester Street may be moved a few feet and traffic lanes reworked as part of the renovation of 1 Grafton Common.
This will ensure traffic flows correctly around the Common, which will allow more room for parking in front of 1 Grafton Common, said Paul Scarlett, president of the Board of Directors of Apple Tree Arts.
Apple Tree Arts, a non-profit arts organization, is renovating the venerable building, which is owned by the town.

These proposed road changes would reduce the lanes of traffic at 2 Grafton Common in front of the from three to two.
Moving the dummy and altering the traffic lines will accommodate six public parking spaces and one handicapped spot in front of the building, he said.

Without the move, the front of the building would have four parking spaces, one of them in front of the general stairwell, which is “not ideal,’’ Scarlett said.
The town would have to approve this move, he said. Money has already been allocated in the project budget for these changes.
