Election Season Heats Up

Planning Board will now be contested, along with School Committee and Board of Selectmen.

Election season continues to heat up, with a third candidate in the Planning Board race and a new candidate for Board of Library Trustees.

This makes three contested races so far. Michael Scully of 65 North Main St. recently took out papers for Planning Board. Incumbent Robert Hassinger and Robert Sims have already taken out papers. The three are vying for two seats: One held by Hassinger and another by Bruce W. Spinney III, who is seeking a seat on the Board of Selectmen.

Spinney is seeking the seat on the Board of Selectmen now held by Brook Padgett. The two men have taken out papers.

School Committee will also be contested, with newcomer Margaret McDonald battling incumbents Peter Carlson and Kathleen Halloran. Both are seeking re-election.

A new candidate has taken out papers for Board of Library Trustees. Carrie Hogan of 4 Essex Circle is in the running, along with incumbents Diane Libbey and Douglas Bowman. There are three seats on the board available: Incumbent Judith Michelbeck has yet to take out papers.

The election will be held at May 15. _There is still time for candidates to take out papers.
