Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

2. School choice will be discussed at a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. at That hearing will be followed by a School Committee meeting at 7 p.m. The School Committee is scheduled to discuss the issue and possibly take a vote.

3. The Planning Board meets at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Center.
4. Here’s a story getting a lot of good buzz: One Mission will hold its third annual Kid’s Cancer “Buzz Off” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 3 at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, joined by Rob Gronkowski. With a fund raising goal of $200,000 this year, fans pledge to shave their heads to raise funds to support kids and families coping with cancer. Participants have the option of creating a “Buzz Off” team of friends, family or co-workers to raise funds or participate as individuals. Check out www.buzzforkids.org for more information.

5. It’s never too soon to plan. The School Committee has approved the 2012-2013 school schedule. Teachers return Aug. 20. Students in grades K-9 return Aug. 27. Students in grades PreK and 10-12 return Aug. 28. And what a year of change it will be.
