Having nearly a week of school already postponed is a case of beginner’s bad luck for Cummings, who began his new job in July.

He said he hopes school will open again Wednesday.  National Grid has estimated that power will be restored to most of town by Thursday.

Although his focus now is wading through this storm and getting school back on track, the issue of four days already taken off has been “in the back of my head,’’ he said.

“I can always hope for that miracle winter when we have no snow,’’ he said.
