Investigation Under Way for Fire Cause

The home at 13 Oak St. is a total loss, the fire chief reports.

The cause of a pre-dawn blaze at 13 Oak St. remains under investigation, said Fire Chief Michael Gauthier.

The home is a total loss, he said.

She was transported to the hospital with a possible broken hip.

Firefighters from Millbury, Upton and Northbridge responded to the fire. Firefighters from Westborough, Sutton and Northbridge provided station coverage.

This is the fourth fire in town this year. Investigation continues into the cause of fires at and another three days later at The two homes are within sight of each other.

A third fire on was reportedly set. Joseph Mullen faces charges in that blaze, including animal cruelty. The family's two dogs were killed in the fire; a cat remains missing.

 

Update, 7:39 a.m.: The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the state Fire Marshal's office have been called to the scene. Additionally, the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Team is responding to Worcester and Providence streets for a collision between a fire truck and at least one car.

have been fighting a blaze at 13 Oak St. since at least 6 a.m. today, according to scanner reports.

A scanner report that came through at 6:58 a.m. alleges that a woman escaped from the burning home by jumping from the second floor. She has been taken to the hospital.
