The stage is being set for the Grafton Select Board to choose new additions for the Community Preservation Committee and the Recreation Commission. The single openings on each of the town boards were set to be filled at the January 3rd Select Board Meeting, but all appointments were passed over by the Select Board shortly after the meeting began. Chair Colleen Roy stated, "We will be passing over appointments tonight...per our policy they needed to be posted on our Facebook page, so we will be putting those up as soon as possible and bringing them back." It appears the oversight was not recognized until minutes before the start of the meeting. According to Grafton's "New Appointments" policy concerning Select Board appointments, "Notices of vacancies shall be publicly posted for at least two weeks. Notices shall be posted on the Town website, the Town Facebook page, and in the Municipal Center when a vacancy occurs on a board or a committee."
The two listed candidates for the one open Community Preservation Committee spot were Sue Robbins and John Kelley. According to the Town's government websites, Ms. Robbins currently serves on Grafton's Finance Committee. That appointment allowed Ms. Robbins to also serve on the DPW Facility Building Committee, the Shared Services Committee and the Capital Improvement Planning Committee. Mr. Kelley is the current Chair on Grafton's Housing Authority.
The lone Recreation Commission candidate, Adriane Goldberg Mampe, was subsequently asked on the day of the Recreation Commission's January 9th monthly meeting if she would attend. Ms. Mampe did so via ZOOM. During that meeting she was interviewed by Recreation Commission members regarding her interests and qualifications to fill the Recreation Commission opening. It appears her name will now be forwarded for Select Board approval.
