Grafton HS Students' MCAS Scores Exceed State and 2019 Results

Grafton exceeds state averages in math by 19 percent and exceeds state averages by 12 percent in English.

GRAFTON, MA β€” The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) released the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) scores and Grafton High School faired very well compared to the state and as compared to Grafton's 2019 results.

For Grade 10 English Language Arts, 28 percent of Grafton students exceeded expectations compared to 19 percent average for the state and 48 percent of Grafton students met expectations compared to 45 percent for state.

Thus, Grafton High School students had 76 percent meeting or exceeding expectations as compared to 64 percent meeting or exceeding for the state in English Language Arts.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, this is also a improvement compared to 2019 when 69 percent of Grafton High School students met or exceeded expectations in English.

In math, 71 percent of Grafton High School students met or exceeded expectations in 2021 compared to 52 percent for the state.
