Grafton to Honor Sept. 11 Victims

Grafton will gather this morning at the to honor those killed ten years ago this morning.

At 9:55 a.m., fire apparatus will roll out of the bays to set up in front of the station.

At 10 a.m., all available fire department personnel and guests will assemble at attention and maintain silence.

At 10:05 a.m., the time of the South Tower collapse, there will be:

Ringing of the bell, 5-5-5-5, which since 1870 has signified the death of a firefighter and the last alarm calling the firefighter home. On this day, the bells will toll to honor all those killed on Sept. 11.

Lowering of the flag to half-mast

One minute of silence

At 10:10 a.m., the chaplain will offer a prayer, followed by the firefighter prayer, police officer prayer and EMS prayer.

The bagpiper will play.

The bell will again ring, 5-5-5-5.

The flag will be raised.

The contingent will march to the , 1 South St., for a memorial service, followed by a coffee gathering at 11:30 a.m.
