He is no stranger to business: He owned Pirates Cove Seafood and Ice Cream in Northbridge for 16 years. He sold the business a year ago and decided to try a new venture.

Palumbo has worked for several years in the coffee business.

They plan to be open from 6 a.m. to 2 or 3 p.m., he said. They will specialize in New England Coffee.

They will serve homemade soups, wraps, muffins, cupcakes, bagels and cannolis from Wholly Cannoli in Worcester.

They plan to have a TV on the wall and offer free WiFi.

He said the key to a successful coffee business is the consistency of the coffee and the quality of the food.

One other item must be on the menu, he said.

“The personality of service really makes a difference,’’ he said. “Have the right attitude and put the time and effort into it, and the business will work.’’
