How Does a Mom Get It All Done?

The calendar gets even crazier this time of year.

I am so excited that the weather is nicer.

OK, so this week is a terrible example of that. But after a long, super snowy winter, it feels so nice to be outside and running into everyone again.

Every year I look forward to sitting at the baseball fields around town and cheering our kids on. I enjoy seeing past teammates and their families and meeting new families as well.

I am fully aware that I was the one who signed my kids up for all these activities. I’ve been doing this long enough to know what’s involved. Yet, every year I hit a point where it all feels like too much.

My calendar looks like it might have starred in the movie “A Beautiful Mind.” Spring feels like a beginning and yet at the same time, so many things in our schedule are winding down.

The school year is ending soon and projects are being assigned.  Dance recitals are just around the corner. Communions, graduations and school concerts are all exciting events coming up and I am trying my best to do as many as I can and enjoy them at the same time.

I am trying to remain calm about it all.  I am telling myself that I clearly made it through last spring and I’m fairly confident that I will survive this one as well.

Will my daughter’s dress rehearsal get done in time for me to drive over to my son’s band concert? Will the feather duster costume I am making for my daughter’s dance recital be done in time and look good?

When are we supposed to eat dinner? Will I have a free weekend between now and July to stain my deck?

I  am just going to try my best, some things are out of my control and I have to accept that.

I am also very aware that I have it easier than some. Many families have more than two kids, many play more than one spring sport.

Some parents are doing it alone, some are barely home from work before they are off and running to their child’s activities.

So how do you all manage it all?  When do you eat dinner?  I can’t wait to hear from you and I’m hanging in there until we get to the lazy days of summer. (Yeah, right)
