The 32nd annual Apple Pie Social and Harvest Fair will be held Saturday.

An event with this much appeal takes plenty of peeling.

Not to mention crust-making, filling, baking and freezing.

Volunteers have prepared at least 200 pies in anticipation of the 32nd Apple Pie Social and Harvest Fair, to be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 on the Common.

The fair is sponsored by the and serves as a way to put the spotlight on the church, which has been located on the Common since before the town was incorporated as Grafton, event chairman Bill Keeler said.

These volunteers gather for several evenings at the church to prepare the pies.

The festival includes a silent auction, used book sale, children’s games, attic treasures (which Keeeler described as a “giant yard sale’’), hot dogs and hamburgers, a visit from a truck and musical performances.

Performers include Kelly Clark and the Harvest Fair Band from noon to 1:30 p.m.; children’s entertainer Mr. Kim from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.; and Lynn Jolicoeur and the Pulse from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

And of course there are those pies.

“It’s always one of the most popular events in town,’’ Keeler said. “It’s a great community event.’’
