Saturday night’s Black & White Benefit Ball in honor of the late Krista Schonberg continued as planned, despite the unseasonable snow storm that knocked power out at Highfields Golf & Country Club, where the event was being held.
Thanks to Highfields’ emergency power system, the outage only caused a minor disruption to the evening’s festivities.
Though slippery road conditions kept some attendees at home and prompted others to leave early, some 130 people dined, danced to the music of DJ Ron Burke, and enjoyed the night’s main attraction, a silent auction with more than 40 donated items from local families and area businesses.

Additionally, the event featured a bountiful candy bar, as well as delicious baked goods donated by Deb’s Novelty Cakes & More, Cakes by Dani, and The Sleepy Baker. Elegant, single rose centerpieces were donated by Alan Barki and Lindsay Witkowski and designed by Floral Elegance.
The ball was a tremendous success thanks to the many generous individuals and businesses who contributed to the evening. The Schonberg family extends its heart-felt appreciation to all who helped to make the evening a beautiful tribute to their beloved Krista, who had made most of the plans for the evening herself as a birthday celebration.
