Letter to the Editor: School Chief Apologizes

Flyer should not have been distributed, the school superintendent says.

I know that some people were not happy that a flyer encouraging people to vote in the election went home with students. I am not happy about it either and the issue is 100% on me, not the school committee, principals, or teachers.

The flyers may not have said anything in terms of what to vote for, but I don't want to promote even the perception of a position being delivered to parents through our students.

This happened as a result of me not paying close enough attention to the flyer being approved, as opposed to any type of plot on my end to support a position and use students as pawns. We have what feels like a million different balls in the air at once and it is my responsibility to keep a close eye on all of them at all times.

In this case I did not do that, and that is on me as the leader. Moving forward, I can only promise that I am working as hard as possible to improve as a leader and to help make the Grafton Public Schools better on a daily basis.

In the future I will be making sure that nothing at all goes to homes through students that promotes, or even hints, at supporting a particular political position.
